I have lots of bitty news in my lap that all deserve a proper piece but I’m super busy!So in true Charlie fashion, a list of bite-sized titbits to get your juices flowing.
The Ostrich is reopening for summer!
There is will be a long piece on this within the week after a makeover, The Ostrich will reopening this weekend for beer, food and sunshine sitting. Gone is the tired decor and miserable staff and in its place are new benches, deckchairs and an airstream to purchase soft serve Icecream and corn dogs. Finally, the pub sounds like it will be worth going to!
Low and Slow have a permanent home
If there are those of you still having a bit of a cry after the loss of Grillstock, dry those tears and get in the queue for Low and Slow. The duo has secured a unit at St Nicks Market and can’t wait to serve you some meaty munch smoked on their South American BBQ. The menu is yet to be released but I think you can agree it’s going to be great.
Naasto Baasto is back at Bristol Spirit
Gujarati Goddess Monica is back at our fave bar and kitchen with her menu full of traditional street food, bar snacks and of course some cocktails created to pair perfectly with the gorgeous spices. Check out her menu below and get your table booked ASAP.
Bomboloni has reopened
After the tragic passing of Andrew Griffin, Bomboloni was understandably closed for a few days to allow the family to get themselves together. I am so happy to say they have reopened and serving food that is as good as it ever was. Please do keep Andrews memory alive by booking a table soon, especially if you were at the opening and haven’t made it back. He would have appreciated it.
Comedy and beer is as natural a pairing as Laurel and Hardy! Back to Bristol Spirit we go for laughs, beer and a selection of curries served by Naasto Baasto. Get your tickets here and enjoy fringe warmups from Martin Pilgrim and Becky Brunning, who once made a rude joke about a lucky rabbit’s foot that made me choke on my beer.

After a far too long hiatus, South Bristol gem The Star and Dove are reopening their kitchen on the 21st for Easter Roasts.

Help Mission Pizza buy an oven
Mission pizza have taken a slice of many a Bristolians heart with their top notch vegan, woodfire pizzas. They’ve been given the opportunity to run the kitchen in Left Handed Giants new brewpub but need a bit of a leg up to get there.
