Gloucester Road seems to be going through some changes of late with closings and re-openings in a matter of months. We briefly said goodbye to Coffee #1 before quickly welcoming the news that TinCan Coffee would be opening in their place (hello new haunt!). Soul Fish suddenly stopped opening and after a week or so of wondering we were told via a note in the window that someone else was taking over and the previous owners were off to pastures new.
We also said goodbye to Grills and Dips, a Turkish cafe of sorts which before that was the Herberts bakery and ice cream parlour (I didn’t get it either). Risen from the barely cold ashes is La Fiorentina, an Italian restaurant, cafe and takeaway that is due to open very soon.
A brief look at the menu looks like they won’t be offering the sort of hearty, seasonal fare that Bomboloni or The Parlour do, but will be doing the usual pizzas, pasta as well as burgers and cafe style food from 9am to 11pm, 7 days a week.
With not a lot of true Italian classics on the menu, I shall wait and see whether it is a worthy addition to Bristol’s favourite road.
